How Speaking A2 works

You take Speaking A2 on a computer. It takes 35 minutes. You watch films and answer questions out loud. Your answer is recorded.

Some questions show a picture. You describe what you see, name a few things or choose something and say why. Short, clear sentences are enough.

Always answer the question that is asked. If you say nothing or something else, you get few points for that task.

Questions about Speaking A2

How long is the Speaking A2 exam?

The exam takes 35 minutes on a computer.

How is my answer marked here?

Your recording is turned into text. Then an AI model checks whether your answer fits the question and whether your Dutch is understandable. You also hear an improved version. Treat your score as an indication.

When do I pass?

DUO does not publish a pass mark for Speaking A2. In this practice exam we use 80 of the 128 points.

What happens to my recording?

Your recording is only used to mark it. You do not need an account. You can read more in the privacy statement.

Are these real exam tasks?

No. Real exam tasks are secret. These tasks are our own, made in the format of the real exam.
